Gamify Your Classroom

Gamification, what's that? According to Knewton, gamification is the use of game design elements in non-game contexts.

Mr. Higgins, a 4th grade teacher at Wheeler Elementary, has gamified his class. His devices allow students to access math games and creation apps to improve their math scores. Due to his use of technology and gamification, he has seen student test scores increase from 0.1 to 2.2 grade levels in three months of school.

Students work at their own pace as their levels of gamification are differentiated. Students also track their own data to monitor success.

HERE are some tips to help you get started with gamification from Alice Keeler. Also, if you would like to add digital badges to the gamification process in your class, HERE is a link to a resource by Shake Up Learning.

If you would like to know more about gamification or which devices are supported by our district, please contact your ETS Coach!
